"God Sightings"
As Christians, one of our most important callings is to pay attention to what God is up to, name it when we see it. and then join in and be part of it! We are called to a joy-filled way of living and working. Instead of worrying about what we don’t have, let’s focus on where God is on the loose in our church and in our world. Let’s do this to encourage each other, as Paul wrote in his letter to the church of the Thessalonians: “Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.” (1 Thess 5:11) The motto of the UCC is "God is still speaking," and the motto of the ELCA is "God’s Work, our Hands." Both of these mottos point out an important fact: God did not speak and act once and for all time in the Bible. God is here now. Let’s talk about that! Let’s see if we can get others talking. What we’d like to ask is that you share your God Sightings. A God Sighting is a story about where and how you’ve experienced the presence and activity of God. We may expect God to show up when we’re at worship together. But now let’s also look for God’s work in the world. So think about where you have seen God at work recently, and share those thoughts and experiences on our "God Sightings" bulletin board (you can sign your name or remain anonymous). In this new year, let’s keep an eye out for God's amazing grace breaking into our world!
